Old Mutual Malawi inject K6 million sponsorship towards IIM’s upcoming lake conference

In a mission aimed at enabling a smooth and successful meeting, Old Mutual Malawi Limited has injected K6 million to the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) which will go towards its upcoming two-day lake conference scheduled for October 2-4 2025 at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi.

The event which will have both local and international keynote speakers from the insurance industry will be held under the theme; Innovative, Adapt, Thrive: Survival of Insurance in Malawi in the Age of Global Disruptions.

Speaking during the cheque handover ceremony in Blantyre, Old Mutual Malawi Human Capital Executive, Rex Kadzongwe highlighted that the sponsorship symbolizes the appreciation to the great role that IIM plays in contributing to the insurance sector.

Kadzongwe therefore disclosed that the donation reaffirms their commitment to the growth and development of the insurance profession in the country.

“Life is becoming increasingly tough and the economy not growing as we would have desired, and this calls for the insurance industry to quickly innovate, adapt for it to thrive and positively impact our communities.
“We recommend IIM for thinking ahead and creating a platform where experts bang heads and add a voice of reason in shaping our industry,” said Kadzongwe.

President of the IIM, Reuben Kawelele hailed Old Mutual for the remarkable support which he described it as a sign of a true partner who is always very loyal and comes forward everytime with assistance.

Kawelele said the support will go along way in making sure that the institution host a fruitful conference.

He said the conference will among other things tackle issues that will dwell much in encouraging the insurance industry to adapt and innovate by doing some new ways and move out from the old style as everything has changed globally in order to have an improved industry and contribute to the growth of the economy.

“This support will play a significant role in many areas because for the conference to be successful we really wanted partners and what Old Mutual has done is something special and commendable and we are now confident enough that everything we prepared at the conference will be covered,” said Kawelele.

Meanwhile, Old Mutual Malawi Group Chief Executive Officer, Tavona Biza will be one of the speakers at conference and he is expected to share knowledge and a bit of Old Mutual perspective in as far as the insurance sector is concerned in Malawi.
