The integration will also facilitate for the transfer of money to another account within the bank, check for balance and production of mini statement.

Speaking during the launch of the partnership at Opportunity Bank’s Area 23 branch in Lilongwe on Wednesday morning, Airtel Money Country Director Francis Matseketsa said Airtel and Opportunity bank have been united by a common passion which is serving the people of Malawi.

“This partnership will add value to the customers’ lives as both organisations have relentlessly strived to create innovations aimed at improving the lives of Malawians. Airtel Money has improved people’s access to financial services and the Opportunity Bank services have enabled Malawians to live dignified and purposeful lives,” said Matseketsa.

Opportunity Bank Malawi Chief Executive Officer, Kwanele Ngwenya said the partnership follows a research which the bank conducted which revealed that their customers travel long distances to access their services.

“This partnership is a very welcome development to us as it is clearly spelt out in our strategic document that a customer has to be at the centre of all our services and part of that is trying to reach them where they are,” said Ngwenya.

The Bank’s customers can link their mobile and bank accounts by filling an application form at the nearest Opportunity bank branch which will enable them to access their bank account on their mobile phones by dialing *222#.
