The smiles on the faces of these excited children at the Abundant Life Center in Mitundu, Lilongwe, enjoying a special Christmas party hide the sadness behind them.

The Abundant Life Center is a community driven organization that supports and care for 500 children in Mitundu in Traditional Authority Chiseka, Lilongwe.

On Saturday they attended a pre-Christmas lunch put on for orphaned and impoverished children.

With support from the founder and chairman of ‘Malawian Queen UK’  pageant  Kondi Bowoyeke Munthali in partnership with Ms Christian Panje and Mrs Dorothy Panje, the centre hosted the  a rare celebration for the children.

Many are orphans, casualties of the HIV epidemic. Others are destitute because their parents are ill or unemployed.

The Director of the centre, Moses Njobvu hailed Malawian Queen UK for doing charity work by putting a smile to the orphans.

“Thank you everyone who participated in making this become a reality, your spiritual, emotional and financial support is greatly appreciated, we hope and pray that this isn’t the last but the beginning of great things,” said Njobu.

Munthali told Nyasa Times  that he will soon embark on a fundraising venture together with the current Malawian Queen UK Rose Mmangisa, to assist the centre which is currently facing a lot of hardship due to lack of funding.

Although this sounds good but let us be like oil, not to sink in water here. What was their motive, to help these orphans or to gain credit from the world by pretending to be kind to them??? Look how these kids look? When last did they have a bath? No shoes, eating using bare hand, not even giving them plastic spoon or folk, and you are here saying, they are doing a great job!! I don’t see anything to begin to call it celebration here. Well, if you call this celebration, yet its just a piece of meat and… Read more »

Let not the left hand see when the right hand have given. It is absurd to make a history over the name of an orphan!!!!!!!!!! Please do not dispose off their pictures!!!!!!!!!

The Government needs to consider these orphans in its programs. Why spend 7 billion kwachas of taxpayers money on malata and cement for people who are simply lazy to build their own houses. Hardworking individuals in the villages are able to build good houses on their own. Let taxpayers money be put into good use.

Thanks! But these kids are sons and daughters of business persons at Mitundu Trading Centre. Please extend to villages like Khomani, Mbuzi ya mwana, Patsankhondo, Nsambwe ya Nthunzi, Nsambwe Manyazi, Bauleni, Mkaka more particularly villages around Bunda College. Students and staff of this college are the ones spreading HIV/AIDS in those villages. They fuck our sisters, daughters and mothers real bad and they abandon the babies. I can even mention names of professors, lecturers and students who have fathered these kids.
