PAC tells Chakwera to desist selective justice in corruption fight

A high-level delegation from the quasi-religious organization, the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has told President Lazarus Chakwera to desist from selective justice in his crusade against corruption.

Bishop Gilford Matonga: No selective justice

PAC spokesperson Gilford MatoNga said in an interview that the quasi-religious body encouraged the President for his relentless war against graft but told him the war should not be one sided.

“We requested him that there should not be selective justice in the fight against corruption. Anyone involved, whether from the Tonse alliance or opposition, must be prosecuted,” he said.

This comes at a time when there have been calls for the government to institute an inquiry into how former president Joyce Banda sold the presidential jet amid revelations that the money might have been abused.

He said the political will to fight graft must not be accompanied by selective justice.

I would agree with you but your statement does not come forcefully . You need to have told Chakwera to find out from Chimwendo Banda or Titus Mvalo or Matemba what is happening to the following case because he claims he is clearing the rubble about cases that happened before.
1. Kaliati harrasing of a woman
2.Kaliati corruptly influencing selection of student to secondary schools.
3. Kaliati involvement of selling of vwaza
4. Kaliati mid night six
5. Joyce Banda jet issue
6. Joyce Banda Cash gate
7. Masangwi chasowa murder
8. Nsungama treason
9. Kabwira Treason

Pac should just ask police and acb to be more independent and not spare anyone. Does chakwera get a list of people to be arrested or approve it from police or acb before the list. The police and ACB should independent..fully independent..and the presidency should not take part in arrest of people or influence it. The president sbould6 only ensure that govt bodies are working without interference or favour

Some people are saying that Joyce Banda was not arrested because there was no evidence of wrongdoing. I beg to differ, I think evidence was there aplenty. The disappearance of a whole jet without proper explanation of where the proceeds of the sale went, is evidence enough. And remember there were shifting explanations on the whereabouts of the money; from paying for military hardware to the purchase of maize, all of which did not convince anyone. In addition, on the issue of cashgate, just like we are saying the plunder that happened in the last six years could not have… Read more »

Hahaha that’s really funny why asking Chakwera, old habits die hard, please PAC be advised that Chakwera does not have arresting powers, please talk to the law enforcement agencies.

What Chakwera has does is just to free them from state capture so that they can wonk independently…..

Who do you get fooled? He wields power and has too much influence over the arresting authorities.

For me, I feel JB jet issue is clean and spotless. if JB was implicated in the jet issue, DPP led govt would have arrested her.

Bwana Chakwera don’t waste time with fruitless arrest, please focus on those DPP corrupt cases that its evidences are seen every day with our naked eyes. do not let much time pass else lot of witnesses and investigative police officers will be killed by those corrupt criminals.

APM was not vindictive that is why he did not want to waste public money chasing a thief who had run away to USA. Joyce Banda is a CAHSGATER, a thief and archetypal corrupt politician. She is implicated in Cashgate and selling of presidential jet. Do you really think people like Kasambara would have stolen all that money on their own without her knowledge? Chakwera should arrest JB if he is serious about corruption.

Why forcing Chakwera to investigate Joyce Banda?
what was Muntharika doing for the whole Solid 6months without arresting her if she wronged the nation .
It seems there is no evidence to open criminal charges against JB as Peter Muntharika administration failed to do likewise

I am sure these idiots from PAC are aware that DPP and Mr Arthur Peter Mutharika had a long six (6) years to crush Abiti Cashgate, chasowa murderers, kaliati, …….etc etc.! These PAC idiots must be saying ‘when are you arresting Mr Arthur Peter Mutharika and Ms Gertrude Mutharika’!

That’s a lie my frnd, if u say ur APM had no time to waste public funds to follow-up a thief but he had time to steal thru dubious sell of our land to Indians? He had time to import cement worth 5billion?? He had time to let Dausis kill albinos? Your point is baseless
