PAC’s ‘future of Malawi’ meet rescheduled to October
Quasi religious body, the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) says the all inclusive indaba, the second this year, will be in October not this month as earlier planned.
PAC executive director Robert Phiri said his organisation has rescheduled the meeting because some moderators and presenters had asked for more time.
“We will definitely meet next month and we will dwell on governance. We will also find out how much the government has done since our first meeting in February,” he said.
The February meeting was highly emotional as some opposition members called for the resignation of President Peter Mutharika.
The meeting, among others, advised the government to fix the economy and deal with the persistent hunger situation that hits the majority poor.
President Peter Mutharika appointed negotiation team and PAC fell out of each other which led to PAC pulling out of Mutharika initiated talks aimed at finding solutions to the country’s problems.
