Wandale lawyer in bail bid as court examines co-accused sureties
Peoples Land Organisation (PLO) leader Innocent Wandale is having his fingers crossed as his lawyer requests for bail for the self proclaimed president of Mulanje and Thyolo.
Wandale’s lawyer, Michael Goba Chipeta confirmed he is today, Tuesday, asking senior resident magistrate, Thokozani Soko for bail for his client who has been on remand at Chichiri Prison in Blantyre since his arrest on September 1.
Wandale is still on remand with two of his trusted followers after 21 others were given a 12 month suspended sentence after they pleaded guilty to the land grabbing charges.
In court officials will be examining the sureties of the 21 convicts.
The court fined them K5000 and a surety each who will be supervising the convicts during the bonding period.
Wandale and his two other coaccused case however resumes in the court in Blantyre.
