People leap in defence of Chilima after being labeled homeless
Immediate past State Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima was attacked on social media forum that e was homeless after a vehicle painted in his party colours was parked at Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre.
Posted on Facebook by George K. Mwale the post, that came with the headline: ‘Saul Chilima homeless in Blantyre, now sleeps in hotels. Paying the price of his arrogance’, went on to say “barely two months ago, Saulos Klaus Chilima was the second most powerful man in Malawi in his capacity as the country’s Vice-president.
“Instead of humbling himself before the man who identified him in President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, Saulos Chilima decided to rebel against the man who fished him from the mud and gave him the country’s Vice-presidency.
“For making this mistake to contest against his own man who mentored him, Chilima became a distant third in the May 21st General Elections.
“Saulos Chilima had official government vehicles with sirens, 45 bodyguards and an official State House mansion at Mudi in Blantyre and in Area 12 in Lilongwe where he spent his nights. All these are now gone and history.
“Today, Saulos Klaus Chilima is back to his old self. At the weekend, he spent his nights at Ryalls Hotel as he has no residence in Blantyre. How times change! God is indeed not James,” said the post.
People quickly came to Chilima’s defence, saying a man staying in hotels can never be equated as homeless.
“To sleep at such an expensive hotel or to build a house, which one is expensive,” said Malungatiya Kasambala. “Your propaganda is of cadet upgrade quality“
Tkolene Chink asked: “Since when do the so called homeless lodge in hotels. Maybe school me…what’s the meaning of homeless?
Mk Steve said: “He has money to afford sleeping in hotels, is that an issue? Before being a VP, was he sleeping on the street?” while Sam Ngwira attacked Mwale by saying: “You will die poor, the person you are talking about is not of your class. I think you are sick in your brain.”
Anthony Maseko then posed the question that since it was a party colour branded car, it could have been a driver than Chilima himself.

The fact is: We will be paying Chilima for the rest of his life, we will also be buying a car for him every 5 years.
If we could, we should amend our constitution to specifically cut Chilima out of the pension, retroactively. Like a codicil in a will.
He cuts the cake in being the VP who deserved his keep the least.
And, he should even be made to pay back the money he was “paid” over the past year, for doing nothing.
If he is not ashamed of this “welfare” money, then I don’t what will ever bring him to shame and apologize. Back to the hypothesis that Chilima simply thinks that he’s entitle baasi.
