People’s Party officials in road accident
People’s Party (PP) officials in the northern region have been involved in a road accident as they were travelling to attend a political party meeting addressed by State Vice President Khumbo Kachali at Edingeni, in Mzimba.
Kachali who is also PP’s second in command held a political rally at his home area, Edingeni.
The accident occurred at around 08:00AM along the Mzimba-Manyamula road.
According to a traffic officer at Mzimba Police station who visited the scene of the accident Sergeant Luka Maxon the vehicle, a Toyota Hilux registration number DZ 2231 overturned after the driver lost control due to over speeding.
Maxon identified the victims as Mrs. Cliffer Kondowe, director of women in the north, Geofrey Jere, organising secretary, Ruth Qokwani, women regional treasurer, and Violet Chituzi Nyirenda, women regional secretary.
The four sustained multiple injuries and have been admitted to Mzimba district, according to the police office.
Meanwhile police are keeping in custody the driver involved in the accident identified as Pachalo Mwale 39 of Isaac Mwale village, T/A Mzukuzuku in Mzimba district.
