Piksy rocks Lilongwe at Maso album launch

Straight from his Kenyan trip, musician Piksy had a jovial welcome in Lilongwe where he re-launched his latest album ‘Maso’ at Portuguese Club on Saturday.

The turn-out clearly demonstrated how music lovers in the capital city anticipated to have a taste of the Afro-rapper/singer’s new album which was first launched in Blantyre last month.

The fans started flocking to the venue as early  with DJ performances from DJ Kari-P, but came into full life when Blakjak jumped on stage around 3:00pm to open the live performances which were backed by Maziko Band.

Other performances came from Biriwiri, Wendy Harawa and Armstrong who wowed the jovial fans with their songs before the main artist took over with the song ‘Moto’. He also dished out his hit singles ‘Unamata’, ‘Appetiser’ and ‘Ponya Mwendo’ among others.

The artist also called on stage Mafunyeta for a joint performance, before the Lilongwe-based dancehall artist took time to dish out a few of his tracks.

Piksy, who is Airtel Malawi brand ambassador, also performed ‘Yabooka’ as he distributed Airtel Nyimbo t-shirts and the company’s other branded materials. He also gave out copies of his 16-track album, released under the label Nde’feyo Entertainment.

As darkness engulfed the capital, Portuguese Club was still packed with Lucius Banda remaining on the menu. He was backed by Maziko Band with Sam Simakweli as the only member from Zembani Band.

The ‘soldier’ performed about 10 tracks among them ‘Nthawi’, ‘Mabala’, ‘Malume’ and ‘Wokondedwa’ which he featured Wendy Harawa.

“I feel honoured to have such support from you people. There’s no Piksy without you, let’s do this together and grow the industry in Malawi,” said the thrilled Piksy, dressed byMalawi designer  Lilly Alfonso.

The show was powered by Airtel Malawi as well as Nde’feyo Entertainment, and the former’s Brand and Communications Manager, Isabel Kachinjika said her company will continue supporting the artist who is doing a lot in promoting the Airtel brand and services.

After the afternoon show, the fun went to Zanzi where patrons were treated to DJ performances by DJ Scarper and Kari-P, before Piksy, Rashid and Genii Blakk’s performances.
