Police arrest four in connection to Kadyanji murder

Police in Lilongwe have arrested four men in connection with the murder of Daina Kadyanji who was an accounts officer in the Accountant General’s Department.

Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer Ramsy Mushani said the four were arrested this week after police intensified investigations into the murder of Kadyani early this month.

But Mushani declined to shed details of the names of arrested gangsters saying it would jeopardise with the on-going investigations into the matter.

He said a security guard was also arrested in connection with the murder as investigations established that he had a hand in the matter.

The police publicist said they would appear in court to answer charges of murder.

Kadyani, 45-years-old hailed from Zammimba Village in Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka.

She was attacked at home Area 23 in Lilongwe on her way from the church by a gang who dumped her body at Kanyandula Village near Chiuzila Trading Centre in Lilongwe.

The late Kadyanji worked in the Ministry of Tourism before being transfered to the Ministry of Health and later the Accountant General’s Office until her fate.

Among other offices at the Account General’s Office, she worked in the Cheque Dispatch Office during the months the current administration initiated Cashgate is reported to have taken its toll.

As an officer in this office, she was identifying all people who came to collect cheques. However, recently she was moved to Pensions Section within the Accountant General’s Office.
