Police arrest village head over forged Chewa Heritage Foundation letters

Police in Lilongwe have arrested Group Village Head Noah Sosola and Boniface Gauti for forgery after they allegedly sent letters to President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and other people seeking funds for Chewa Heritage Foundation with forged signatures.
Lingadzi Police Spokesperson, Salome Zgambo said the two were Chewa Heritage Foundation events Committee Chairperson and Secretary, respectively.
They are suspected of forging the signature of the chairperson of the Chewa Heritage in letters they have been writing in seeking funds towards the Mkumano wa Achewa fundraising event for the Kulamba Ceremony.
Zagombo said investigations are currently underway  and the suspects will appear in court soon.
According to sources within Chefo, Sosola allegedly forged signature of Chewa Heritage Foundation chairperson Stanley Khaila in a letter addressed to President Lazarus Chakwera seeking financial support for preparatory activities for this year’s Kulamba Ceremony in Zambia on August 29, 2022.
