Police looking for DPP roughneck Alex Mawaya, cadets for assaulting Mpinganjira
Malawi Police Service are looking for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) roughneck Alex Mawaya and a gang of some cadets who punched DPP spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira and harassed other party governing council officials on Friday in Lilongwe.
Mawaya and other roughnecks were captured on television cameras storming a press conference room where Mpinganjira, party administrative secretary Francis Mphepo and director of Legal Affairs in DPP Charles Mhango were holding a press conference.
Mawaya is seen punching Mpinganjira mercilessly as Mphepo and Mhone flee the hotel room along with some journalists barely three minutes into the press conference was being held.
Mawaya was with 15 other roughnecks.
One of the roughnecks put on a DPP golf shirt with abbreviation KN on it.
Mpinganjira said the roughneck who assaulted him accused the party spokesperson of trying to insult party vice president for the south, Kondwani Nankhumwa.
Nankhumwa has since distanced himself from the political violence and condemned the assault of the DPP officials.

These thugs think they are still in dpp government when they were able to terrorize others with impunity. The government is supposed to protect everybody including the Mpinganjiras.
Word of advice to the so-called DPP cadets:
You cannot harrass people anymore, as you did during APM leadership, and think you can get away with it. There is now Law Enforcement under the Tonse Alliance Leadership. Mpinganjira may no longer be a darling of politics but he deserves fair treatment and the humiliation he suffered was uncalled for. Those involved must face the law.
Just last year these were the people who used the same to baet other political oponents I would have loved to let them get the same dosage without any intervention from the Police.
I enjoyed the movie. It was very entertaining. Alex deserves a medal! ..or some sort of recognition. Great guy.
There is absolutely no need to hunt down Alex. Brown and the entire DPP have always loved violence and Alex is simply meeting market demands.
Police leave them alone. You don’t arrest people for good works.
