Press Trust constructs Chapima Heights police unit in Blantyre

Residents of Chapima Heights in Blantyre have all the reasons to smile as Press Trust has constructed a standard police Unit in the area to provide security.

Press Trust Projects Manager, Miss Maliam Mdoko said the unit has been constructed following a request from residents.
 Press Properties is the one that owns Chapima heights in the city of Blantyre.
“Management at Press Trust went through the request and saw it fit and necessary to help residents of this area with the Police unit,” She said.
Mdoko further stated that the Trust has been and will continue to help communities across the country with various projects ranging from hospitals to police units, among others.
“We will be constructing two semi-detached houses here for the staff at a cost of K55,000,000.”
Construction of the office building is at K25,000,000.
She added that the policy of Press Trust calls for communities around such projects to show a spirit of ownership.
Mdoko then called on the communities around Chapima to take part in raising sand and bricks for construction of two staff houses which will commence shortly.
She then called for coordination among all players in this project to ensure smooth running.
Officer In-Charge Urban Police at the Southern Region Police Headquarters, Merlyline Yolamu applauded Press Trust for the standard police Unit project.
She said southern region Police headquarters is ready to deploy police officers to the area once the houses are completed.
“We are very grateful for this project which will surery address security concerns of people around here”, She said.
“We would have loved if your organisation considered constructing ten houses for our officers (police) here, but for a start at least three staff houses can do.”
In his remarks, Blantyre Kabula Councillor Mr. Chinthuli said people in the area have been waiting for the police unit for long. He said he was happy now that office building is ready and that construction of staff houses will commence shortly.
He commended both Press Trust and Press Properties for the project.

Going by the figures mentioned in this article, there is matured corruption at the Press Trust. By the way, is this the standard of building which a trust can really build? Mind you, the Press Trust is where profits from National Bank, TNM, Maldeco fisheries, Prescane, MTL, etc etc are remitted to meet developmental needs of this country. These companies are public companies. How come then that Press Trust hides with the money and choose to do nothing on ground? Who supervises the Trust? AND, Is the Zakwathu (kaya Zakumudzi, kaya Magule akwathu) programe on MBC financed by the Trust… Read more »
