Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has described the 2017 Presidential Womens Football Cup edition a success as the competition reaches its final stage this weekend.
FAM Competitions Manager Gomezgani Zakazaka said this on Wednesday after conducting the national draw at Balaka Stadium on Wednesday.
The finals will be played at Zolozolo Football Ground in the Northern Region City of Mzuzu.
“It has been a great journey and as organizers, we are happy that thecompetition has reached its final phase without hiccups and according
to our plan,” said Zakazaka.
During the draw, defending champions Blantyre Zero were paired against Central Region representatives Skippers FC while Moyale Sisters face fellow Northern Region opponents Rumphi Young Shooters.
Blantyre Zero emerged as Southern Region Champions to qualify for the national finals while Skippers are the Central Region champions.
Moyale Sister are Champions for the Northern Region while Rumphi Young Shooters has been included by the virtue of Mzuzu being the host city.
“Moyale will face Rumphi in the first semifinal while defending champions Blantyre zero will make a dat against Skippers. Both semifinal matches will be played on Saturday and third place will be played on Sunday before the final involving two teams that win on Saturday,” said Zakazaka.
National Womens Football Committee (NWFC) Severia Chalira said her committee is ready for the grandnational finals.
Chalira said they expect an exciting and competative final.
She therefore called upon people from the north particularly Mzuzu to patronise the games in large numbers.
Champions will cut home K1 Million with the runners up pocketing home K500,000.000.
The semifinalists will receive K250,000.00 each while the top goal scorer will receive K20,000.00 cash prize.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
