After a successful relief maize distribution exercise in March, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri returned to his home country Malawi on Wednesday on a business trip to be a guest of honour at 2017 City Supermarket raffle draw.
Bushiri, a successful entrepreneur and a president of Shepherd Bushiri Investments (SBI), was treated to a VIP status not only by City Supermarket officials, but also giant motor vehicle dealer, Stansfield.
Stansfield offered their latest 2017 Renault to transport the Prophet, popularly known as Major One, from the Kamuzu International Airport at their cost.
He arrived at the jam packed Raffle draw at 18:30 hours to a thunderous welcome from hundreds that had gathered at the City Mall.
In his short speech, the South Africa based Bushiri thanked City Supermarket officials for the invitation which he accepted as a mark of honour not just to him, but their customers.
“I came at this shop some weeks ago just to buy my groceries—by the way, when I am in Malawi, I do the shopping myself because I am always proud of being here.
“What I enjoyed most when I was doing the shopping was the sense of welcome and hospitality I enjoyed. I would love if most businesses in Malawi emulated this gesture,” he said.
He underlined that his coming was not necessarily necessitated by the raffle draw, rather, to show the spirit of solidarity and support that he has to Malawian businesses and to the nation as whole.
Bushiri further added that he is very willing to partner with various business people in Malawi to help fight poverty in the country.
He thanked President Peter Mutharika for encouraging patriotism in Malawi, adding that his coming, too, was within the call by Malawi’s leader.
City Supermarket director Samir Diab hailed ‘Papa’ Bushiri for accepting their invitation saying: “You are a very busy man and we don’t take your coming for granted.”
He added: “Malawi can move forward if we work together, we build partnerships in business so that we can more jobs and opportunities.”
The raffle draw saw customers, who bought goods worth more than K10 000, wining various amenities. The biggest winner went away with a 2015 Nissan Tilda.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
