Reds ‘passing parade’ celebrations, Nomads in ‘walk of shame’: Malawi Presidential Cup
Red Lions celebrated wildly on Wednesday after booting out Mighty Wanderers in Presidential Cup 4-3 on penalties as turned the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre into a theatre of celebrations.
The win means the Zomba-based soldier qualified for the semi-finals of the K60 million (about $150 000) Presidential Cup and will this Saturday meet Silver Strikers at Dedza Stadium.
Lions coach Mike Kumanga praised the players , saying the victory parade at Kamuzu Stadium was justified.
“We have not just qualified for the semi-finals. We have beaten Mighty Wanderers which was a fantastic boost for this club.
“We now focus on the game against Silver; I hope that momentum stays with us.”
“We want to win this cup so there can be a carnival at Cobbe Barracks in Zomba.
Wanderers coach Stewart Mbolembole declared he is “very disappointed” with the loss.
