Rev Chimwemwe Mhango consecrated as first bishop of Redeemed Presbyterian Church

A breakaway church from the Livingstonia Synod of the Church to Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), the Redeemed Presbytery Church (RPC), has consecrated its leader  Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango as the first bishop.

Mhango’s consecration as bishop took place on Sunday at Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe.

Bishop Charles Tsukuluza of Revival Christian Ministry, presided over the consecration and gave Mhango a  with 33 buttons representing the years of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry, a staff, a ring and other spiritual materials for his authority as  bishop.

In his remarks, Tskuluza urged  Mhango to “promote the values of Christianity, obey Christ and promote His will.”

Mhango’s wife for 28 years , Linda Mhango said  the new bishop, a renowned gospel musician, is a loving, caring, intelligent, spiritual and family man.

The former president of Musicians Association of Malawi, Mhango founded the RPC on January 1 2017 after cutting ties with Livingstonia Synod following his refusal to take up a post in Euthini.

  1. Two Church government systems in one? Presbyterian where Church elders represent the laity and make decisions and Episcopal where the Bishop makes all decisions affecting the Church. We are yet to see how the two are going to work together

  2. Omwe musakudziwa kutanthauza kwa bishop musaonetse umbuli. Bishop isnt a catholic thing. Its just latin meaning Overseer. A bishop is someone who oversees several branches or a territory of the church.

  3. It’s amazing how several backroom preachers love to be ordained Bishop. And we have even seen some loving to be called Archbishop. Shaaah.

    1. He has elevated himself and dont be surprised tommorow if he is elevated again to the position of Arch Bishop. That’s his personal church and he can do whatever he wants with it.

    1. Presbyterians have no bishops. A presbyter, a council of church elders, is the highest authority instead of a bishop (in an episcopalian church government system).
