Rev Chimwemwe Mhango rescinds decision on standing as MP
Reverend of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia, Chimwemwe Mhango has rescinded his decision to contest as Member of Parliament (MP) for Mzimba Solola in the next year’s tripartite elections.
The veteran gospel musician said the majority of people from Mzimba Solola constituency approached him and requested him to stand in the 2014 elections.
“But after taking a huge amount of thought, I have decided that I will not contest,” said Mhango.
The renowned gospel musician said he he has been praying about it so that God should give him direction.
There a number of reverends who are in politics who include Rev. Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, who is MP for Mzimba Hora and Rev. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera former president of Assemblies of God who is Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president.
