Rev Nyondo ranks Steven Simsokwe as best 2017 North Malawi freedom fighter

Government’s fierce critic, the Reverend Levi Nyondo of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in the Synod Livingstonia has ranked fearless youth activist Steven Simsokwe as best freedom fighter in the northern region especially in the year of 2017.

Simsokwe: I will not be intimidated

Nyondo said this during the burial ceremony of Magomero Nyasulu, one of the senior Church member in Karonga the northern border district of Malawi.

The ceremony was attended by number of notable people including politicians.

According to Nyondo, who is the first cleric in the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia to win a third-term as General Secretary of the synod,  if the northern region had number of strong and fearless youth activist like Simsokwe northerners would have been respected and developed.

“I have been following this young man, he always fight for his people and not selfish. He stand for the truth without fearing anyone or muted. This is the spirit we want in order to develop our area and have elected leaders who can respect their subjects as well as fulfilling their promises,” he said.

In his speech before Rev. Nyondo, Simsokwe trashed ‘greedy’ politicians in the northern region for betraying their subjects.

He also attacked traditional leaders who are bootlickers at the expense of their people.

“I will keep fight against the elected leaders who betrayed us by voting against electoral reform bills until they apologize like the Mzimba north east legislature, Olipa Muyaba. Believe me or not, those who will not bow down should forget to retain their seats in 2019,” said Simsokwe.

Simsokwe said every legislature from the north supporting the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a Judah Iscariot.

“DPP is killing us as the northerners. Look at the quarter system of selecting public university students, development projects in just mentioning a few. It is the same government that wanted to give us refugees camp than a University as promised,” he disclosed.

In a separate interview, Simsokwe thanked the man of God for the development and vowed to continue doing his job independently in the year 2018.

During 2017, Simsokwe took President Peter Mutharika to task for naming Karonga-Chitipa road as Bingu High Way, blocking government decision to transfer Dzaleka refugees camp to Katili in Karonga, fighting against greedy traditional leaders and politicians, blocking Hamra from carrying its oil mapping exercise in the Lake Malawi as well as fighting against the corrupt leaders at Karonga district council.

Oh My God! Rev Nyondo is the first person to win THIRD TERM in the Livingstonia Synod? This is the hypocrisy of our church leaders and activists. You campaign against third-term for Muluzi and then turn around to get the same as a church leader by making the same stupid arguments Muluzi made – ‘I am the only one who can be in this position.’ Well done Ndovi for your hypocricy. Thats why some of us are fed up with religious leaders and activists criticising government.
