Reverend Gama probed for sex-abuse scandal

Presidential adviser on religious affairs Rev Billy Gama is caught in allegations of sex abuse  that has brought his character in question and divided the CCAP Blantyre Synod leadership which is probing the matter.

Sources privy to the matter have revealed that Reverend Gama was bedding teenage girls that he was staying with at his house in Lilongwe.

The source said that Gama had sexual romps with the three girls, some from his wife’s side, and forced them to abort.

“One of them is a daughter of his close friend who is in South Africa. The friend left the daughter as she was still in school in Malawi,” said the source.

Rev Game: Under probe by Synod

Apart from the three girls Gama has a mistress in Lilongwe and another one in Lesotho. He met the Sotho woman when he went to study for his masters in theology in South Africa, according to our source.

Blantyre synod officials, who declined to be named because they are handling the issue, confirmed the scandal saying that the South Africa based friend wrote President Mutharika and the synod complaining about Gama’s behaviour.

“We had a hearing where the complainant was present. The girls also narrated how it was done,” said a source.

In a bid to contain the scandal, Gama sent his wife, saying he was busy with State House issues.

“The wife backed the husband. We want to hear from his own mouth,” said the source.

The girls said Gama threatened to kill them if ever they revealed what was happening.

Meanwhile, the girls have moved from Gama’s house.

A State House source also confirmed that Mutharika received the complaint but said he did not want to muddle the waters as he had too many fronts to fight.

“There is an issue of abuse of public resources as he has been accommodating his Sotho mistress in hotels here. Government paid as he said she was a consultant for his office,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Gama is reportedly bragging that the issue will never be public as he has palm oiled editors of a scandal tabloid.

“He met them in Limbe at a filling station next to Limbe post office where he handed them fat envelopes. He met them one by one so as to cover his tracks,” said the source.

Gama cut the line when Nyasa Times introduced the issue to him.

Oflate, Gama has been behaving as a DPP official as he mobilises self styled pastors to back Mutharika’s agenda.
