Police confirmed the death, the Gomani died in “tragic incident”  at Nathenje Bridge, Lilongwe, on Monday where the vehicle he was travelling in fell into the river as his driver tried to overtake another car.

Central Region Police public relations officer Nolliettie Chihana

said Gomani died at Nathenje Health Centre after sustaining internal injuries while the driver Charles Malidadi, 37, of Sumani Village in traditional authority (T/A) Nsomba, Blantyre sustained a cut in the head.

“[Gomani’s] body is now at Kamuzu Central Hospital. And the vehicle is extensively damaged,” she narrated.

Gomani was in the news recently when he disclosed that the Roads Authority board had suspended Chief Executive Officer Trevor Hiwa after a team of investigators found him guilty that he awarded a K217 million World Bank funded project to his own company called Infracon Limited and that he should face disciplinary action, government spokesman has confirmed.

  1. Kamuzu once said in reference to Kanyama Chiume…..and I quote “Those who oppose us accidents do happen”….May the soul of Mr Goman rest in peace. I just hope that my brother Trevor Hiwa is not involved in this.

But my conjecture is that there is some foul play involved…investigations must be instituted…the driver should be questioned!! We are living in a dangerous world where all evil things are possible .

    1. Here is a body Chair who was professional. He might have been on his personal trip. Thus no need to use the institutional vehicle.

    1. @ Sasha:I’m being sarcastic!!! Obviously you’re too slow to pick it up. A lot of people have lamented at the way our local press publishes pics of dead people

  4. RIP
I’m surprised you’re not publishing pictures of the dead body, or maybe it’s because he was a ‘somebody’

When one gets involved in a car accident in Malawi, chances of dying with minor injuries are high. There is no immediate First Aid from other Motorists. Villagers can not help either as most of them become spectators. I think its high time we needed every Motorist to undergo First Aid theory and practical training courses with renewals every year. Each car should have a full First Aid kit by law.People could be able to save lives by applying this skill.
