Saka, Mkwanda  win Airtel Malawi golf at Limbe

Yotamu Saka and Margret Mkwanda  on Saturday  emerged the winners of Airtel Malawi’s Golf tournament that took place at Limbe Country Club in Blantyre.

Mkwanda  scooped the women’s  Division with 41 points, while Saka, who is Limbe Country Club captain registered 41 points as well.

Saka attributed his success due to a golf course which he said he is familiar with since its his home ground, while Nkwanda said she used her experience to beat her opponent.

He also said  the decision to tee off early in the morning worked to his advantage as he managed to score 23 points on the forwards before amassing 18 on his way back later in the afternoon.

Saka,65, was also last years Airtel Nchalo golf tourney.

On her part, Mkwanda said she also capitalized on the dry course.

“Due to the dryness of the course the ball was travelling so fast as such knowing the conditions of the course before tee off paid dividends,” she said.

Speaking during the prize presentation ceremony Airtel Malawi’s Chief Commercial Officer Charles Kamoto thanked all golfers who participated in the tourney as their participation made the tournament a success.

Kamoto said the aim of the tournament was to thank it’s cooperate customers for their support to the company,

He also reaffirm Airtel’s commitments to the development of the sports in the country as one of it’s cooperate social responsibility

Kamoto said Airtel brand is so passionate about sports development in the country .

He added that the next tournament was scheduled for the capital city in November.
