Samute rises to deputy chief secretary of Malawi Govt

President Joyce Banda has appointed experienced civil servant Willie Samute to  the position of Deputy Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC).

Samute was serving as Ministry of Health principal secretary.

Now there are two deputy chief secretaries . The other one is Hawa Olga Ndilowe who took from Necton Mhura.

Samute: Deputy Chief Secretary

Mhura was the Deputy Chief Secretary since 2009 when late Malawi ruler Bingu Wa Mutharika was elected for the second term.

According to OPC, Samute will be responsible for civil servants welfare while Hawa Ndilowe is responsible for cabinet affairs.

They will deputise Bright Msaka, a lawyer by training, who is Secretary for the Government.
