Scorchers’ injury blow: Chimzimu ruled out of Olympic qualifier against Zimbabwe

The Malawi Women’s National Football Team, the Scorchers, have been dealt a blow ahead of Friday’s 2028 Olympic Games first-leg qualifier against Zimbabwe, with midfielder Faith Chimzimu ruled out through injury.

Almost all of the players called up are already in camp. The match will be played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Montpellier attacker Rose Kabzere was the latest player to join the squad, arriving in camp yesterday.

The absence of Chimzimu, who plays for Swedish side BK Häcken FF, will be a worry for the Scorchers.

There is some hope, though, as she could return for the second-leg match against Zimbabwe in Harare on 13 October.
