All set for 2017 Insurance Sports Day
Staff and families from various insurance firms in the country will converge at the College of Medicine Sports Complex Saturday, June 24, 2017 as the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) holds this year’s Insurance Sports Festival under the slogan ‘Bigger and Better.’
The event is expected to attract staff and families from over 20 insurance companies, brokers and Reserve Bank of Malawi, which is the regulating institution for the industry.
According to IIM’s Events Officer David Masasa, a number of sporting activities have been lined up on the menu for the day-long event, which will be spiced up by a performance by Lulu during prize presentation.
Apart from Lulu, Masasa said the members will be also entertained to disco music during the activities- courtesy of DJ Macoge.
“This is basically an Insurance Sports Day, whose aim is to foster interaction amongst members from the insurance family and bring about a spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
“We have been holding this event for over a decade and as per our slogan for this year ‘Bigger and Better,’ there will be lots of surprises for the participants,” said Masasa.
Amongst the sporting activities lined up on the menu include football, netball, golf, volleyball, swimming, re-lay race, sack race, egg throw, darts, bawo, chess, pool, table tennis and squash. There will also be some games and entertainment for children.
For the first time in the history of the games, the organising chair said there will be awards for the top goal scorer in football and most valuable players in basketball, volleyball and netball.
IIM president Immaculate Kachapila is expected to open the games at 08.00hrs.
