Sex worker arrested for neglecting 4-year old daughter: Defiled
A 23 year old young woman has been arrested and is currently in Police custody at Kanengo Police Station in Lilongwe for neglecting her four year old daughter.
It is believed that the woman identified by Police as Rosina Deborah Josita got divorced after delivering the baby whom she later took to her uncle who resides at Mtandile Township in Lilongwe to look after her.
She then left the place and start prostitution.
According to Kanengo Police Station Deputy Public Relations Officer Constable Salome Zgambo Chibwana, the suspect went back to her uncle’s place to pick the child so that she starts to stay with her.
It is therefore allerged that Josita used to lock the child in her house when going out at night to conduct her trade.
During the morning of 1st October this year, Josita’s neighbour after seeing how dirty the daughter was decided to give her a bath and later offer the innocent child food to eat since the mother was asleep.
Surprisingly, the neighbour noticed that the child had wounds and bruises in her private parts and thereafter informed the mother who together reported the matter at Nsungwi Police Unit.
The police issued a medical report where it was later discovered and confirmed that the girl was defiled several times and on different occassions.
Meanwhile, Police are still hunting for the suspect who has been sexually molesting the child.
Constable Zgambo Chibwana has since advised all parents never to leave their girl child alone to avoid similar cases.
