Silver beat Nomads, BB and Civo in draws

Silver Strikers came from behind to beat Mighty Wanderers 2-1 on Sunday at the giant Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to keep their unbeaten record clean in the elite TNM Super League.

In an entertaining encounter, the Nomads dominated the entire 90 minutes with the likes of Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo, who was a marvel to watch with his skilful dribbles.

Kamwendo, who was probably man of the match, gave the Bankers midfield, which was manned by Clement Mvula a lot of work to do.

The Nomads nearly opened the score sheet in the first 16 minutes but the striking force of Diverson Chilemba and Gomegzani Gondwe missed a lot of would-be goals.

On the other side, the Bankers accelerated the pace of the game in the 30th minutes especially through Rodrick Gonani, who was operating from the left flank.

Gonani tried to unlock Nomads defence but Foster ‘Zagaf’ Namwera and Bongani Kaipa kept him at bay.

As the two sides were going on recess, it was still goalless.

In the second half, the Nomads continued to dominate the proceedings of the match and in the 66th minute, Kamwendo released a power-packed shot which left Silver custodian Alex Makina in disbelief.

After the lead, the Lali Lubani Boys relaxed a little bit.

The Bankers technical panel made several changes like introducing Tony Chitsulo for Asedi Ayami.  Chitsulo’s presence was felt in the 82nd minute when he scored an equalizing goal before nailing the last nail on the Nomads coffin.

Silver Strikers coach Thom Nkorongo said it was “fantastic” to come from behind and claim full points while Nomads coach Franco Ndawa said he was disappointed with the loss.
