Silver Strikers Assistant coach Lovemore Fazili has accused referee Arlnold Maseko for being “incompetent” and not fit to officiate TNM Super League games.
Fazili said this on Sunday after his side gave away a two nil lead to salvage a draw against Kamuzu Barracks 2-2.
The Bankers assistant coach said the referee was making “strange decisions” against both teams.
“The referee didn’t know what he was doing,” he said.
But Fazili confessed that the accusations leveled against Maseko have nothing to do with goals Kamuzu Barracks scored as they were genuine.
“Yes we conceded silly goals (due to defensive errors) but you could note that the referee was not competent enough. If we can have such type of referees, football cannot develop in this country,” said Fazili.
“Such referees need to officiate primary school games which is also not healthy at all because football development starts from primary schools,” he added.
Meanwhile, Silver have thrown in the towel on the title but said they will fight for top three positions.
Big Bullets are the favourites to win and defend the cup as they comfortably lead the log standings.
