Silver drawn agaist Civo in Standard Bank Cup

The battle lines in the 2011 Standard Bank knockout trophy have been drawn following a draw that took place at FAM’s Chiwembe technical centre on Thursday with a stand-out tiw of Silver Strikers facing Civo United.

Sponsors Standard bank also announced the four teams that customers wanted to participate in this year’s competition after three weeks of voting and join the six teams that qualified based on their standings in last years TNM Super League campaign.

The teams are Bullets FC(4876 votes), Red Lions(1007 votes), Mafco(897 votes) and Epac(703 votes).

The four teams will battle it out in the play offs on Octber 29 to identify two teams that will join the other six teams in the preliminary round.

The play off fixture:
Red Lions v Epac
Bullets v Mafco

The fixture in the preliminary round promises fireworks with a capital city derby leading the pack.

Preliminary fixture 05/10/11(home and away)
Silver v Civo
Wanderers v Moyale
Escom v Winner of Red Lions/Epac
Blue Eagles v Winner of Bullets/Mafco

Return matches are slated for 12/10/11 and the competition will run for a month with all games being played on Saturdays only. The games will go straight to penalties in case of a draw, according to FAM’s general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda who conducted the draw.

The final will be played on 26 November and Standard bank customers will decide where the final should be played.

The bank will dress all the 8 teams and the winner will pocket K5 million.
