Silver maintain lead at the top of Malawi Super League

Silver Strikers are still basking comfortably on the summit table in Malawi’s TNM Super League despite wrapping up their first round games while Escom United have moved from relegation zone after a win on Saturday.

The Bankers, who are the defending champions, have amassed 31 points having scoring 35 goals while the Zomba based Red Lions  are coming second with 27 points after notching in 17 goals.

Mighty Wanderers, who also finished their first round assignments, are lying third with 26 points after scoring 22 times.

Another commercial city out-fit, Azam Tigers, who also finished their games, are occupying fourth slot with 24 points, as rejuvenated  Big Bullets is on their neck with the same number of points only goal aggregate is separating the two.

The Kau-Kau boys have managed to score 20 goals compared to the People’s team, who have notched in 19 goals.

However, the People’s team have a greater chance to overtake three teams namely, Tigers, the Nomads and Red Lions if they will manage to beat Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday at Kalulu Stadium.

The People’s team are currently enjoying good form after a fruitful trip from Mzuzu having beaten Moyale Barracks 1-0 on Saturday before pruning Kabwafu United 2-1 the following day.

Unpredictable, Blantyre United are on position six with 23 points with area 3 giants Civo United on their back with 22 points.

Blue Eagles are on position eight with 18 points while another capital city out-fit  Epac FC are monitoring them closely with 16 points.

Kamuzu Barracks, who have a tricky assignment against the People’s  team on Sunday, are tenth slot with 15 points with limping Mafco F.C following them having accumulated 13 points.

New Rookies, Bvumbwe Research, who kicked off the league on a high note before losing the track towards the end of the first round, are on position 12 with 12 points with Escom United on their chase.

The Electricians, who fired their coaches replacing them with a bulk of four vast experienced players, were back with power after clipping Mafco 2-1 at Kalulu Stadium.

The Electricians have now collected 11 points but they have a chance to finish a head of Mafco, Bvumbwe if they beat Epac on Sunday.

The Mzuzu based soldiers Moyale Barracks are now on position 14 with 10 points same with Kabwafu United, who are anchoring the table.
