Silver romps Embangweni 9-0

Capital city struggling giants Silver Strikers turned on the heat in style on Embangweni United with a 9 – 0 drubbing of the northern region outfit as the battle for points in the TNM Super League entered week 20.

Playing at home before an appreciative crowd starved of victories and excellent performances, the central bankers scored through veteran striker Rodrick Gonani who claimed his first hat trick of the season, Asedi Ayami and Davie Moya scored a brace each while Mc Neil Chitsundi and Peter Pindani completed the onslaught.

Silver to winning ways

A good result for a team that is being coached by veteran players Hellings Mwakasungula and Itaye Nundwe after suspending the Dan Dzinkambani led technical panel for poor performance.

The team is now looking at options of recruiting a foreign coach a move that has not gone down well with some quarters arguing that the problems at the club is not necessarily on the technical panel but management.

But this impressive result will cool down tempers at the club which is yet to hit top form.
The central bankers now have 31 points.

At the Zomba community centre ground, Mafco beat hosts Zomba United 1 – 0 with Oswald Mkagula making the much needed difference.

These were the only games played on Saturday after the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) postponed games involving Mighty Wanderers, Azam Tigers,Civo and Blantyre United who have contributed a considerable number of players to the senior national team which will take part in the Cecafa senior challenge cup in Tanzania and the under 20 team which has travelled to Botswana for the Cosafa youth championship which rolls into life on December 1.
