Elections Commissioner Mwenefumbo dies, burial Nov 29

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Commissioner Oliver Mwenefumbo  is dead.

The Commission’s spokesperson, Aubrey Sumbuleta, announced the demise o Sunday.

“The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) regrets to announce the death of Commissioner Oliver Mwenefumbo,” Sumbuleta said in a statement obtained by Nyasa Times.

The cause of Mwenefumbo’s death was not disclosed.

He was appointed by President Bingu wa Mutharika as MEC Commissioner in 2006.

In another statement, MEC spokesperson informed that burial  of Mwenifumbo will take place on Tuesday, the 29th of November, 2011 at his home, Katolola Village in Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga district.

“Those going to the funeral ceremony are advised to take the St Mary’s Boys Primary School turn-off as you approach Karonga Boma,” advised the statement.

The ceremony is expected to start at 11:00 am.

Commissioner Mwenifumbo died on Saturday, the 26th of November, 2011 in Lilongwe.
