Simkonda gets admin, sports reporters cheer in hospital
A group of Sports Administrators and Journalists (SAJ) in the northern region spared time in the middle of the just ended week to visit Moyale Barracks striker Gastin Simkonda, at Mzuzu Central Hospital.
Simkonda was involved in a vehicle accident alongside teammates Chrispin Fukizi, Boyboy Chima and long serving member Lovemore Mitengo.
The group was led by the General Secretary of the Northern Region Football Association, Masiye Nyasulu.
Speaking after the visit, Masiye said it was important for SAJ North to visit the injured player in hospital because sports administrators and journalists exist because of the existing athletes in different sporting disciplines including football.
“As sports administrators and journalists, we have the welfare of players at heart because without them we have no task to perform. We thought it wise to come and cheer Gastin here at Mzuzu Central Hospital and we are happy that he is remarkably improving. We intend to extend our visit to Chrispin, Boyboy and Love at Moyale Barracks in due course,” added Nyasulu.
On his part, Gastin Simkonda thanked God for inspiring the group to go and visit him at the hospital.
“God is still keeping me. I thank him because I am still alive. I am feeling much better now and I am hopeful of serving Moyale Barracks with all my energy when I fully recover and when the Super League season commences,” remarked Simkonda.
