Sound and Light Concert artists line up complete: Mixture of new and old blood

The line up of artists expected to perform at this year’s Sound and Light Concert organized by The Entertainers Promotions scheduled from September 29-30 at the golden sands of Livingstonia Beach Hotel in Salima has been completed.

Tonderai Banda: Expose Malawi talent to the world

The Entertainers Promotions Director Tonderai Jai Banda confirmed the development in an interview with Nyasa Times.

The concert will be held with “Expose Talent to the World” as a theme.

He said unlike in the past where concert organisers have been looking for experienced artists, they have included upcoming artists.

“It will be a combination of both old and new artists. We want the younger generation to learn from the older generation. We have to start giving them a platform to grow on, so as Entertainers promotion, we are just doing that,” he said.

He added that “I have noticed that most Malawian artists would like to be a part of the event but it’s a bit hard for us to accommodate all of them as we are still looking for sponsorship. This event is dedicated to show case Malawian talent from all parts of the country.”

Banda also said that they have invited European promoters at the concert to enable Malawian artists who are expected to perform at the show to have some international exposure.

“We want to give room for the promoters to have a feel of what Malawi artists can offer on the international platform. We want these promoters to be inviting our artists to their festivals and not the current case where Malawian musicians are always invited by fellow countrymen in diaspora to perform there.

“As entertainers, we believe that coupled with our international stage and quality sound, if our musicians give it all during the event, they will have a chance to sign deals with these European promoters,” said Banda.

The notable big names on the line up include Soldier Lucius Banda and Zembani Band, Sir Paul Banda, Alleluyah Band The Black Missionaries, Billy Kaunda, Police Orchestra, Skeffa Chimoto, Edgar and Davis, Tay Grin, Lulu, Theo Thomson and Great Angels Choir among others.

The uocoming artists included Sir Patricks, Beanca Wadada and Queen Fyah, Steve Spesho, Kwin Bee, Roy View and Ishan Cyapital among others.

Charges at the concert are at K7000 per head for tickets buyers while at the door fun lovers will have to part ways with K10000.
