Speaking after presenting the cheque to Blantyre City Council, Managing Director for Sparc systems limited Wisely Phiri said they are happy to have made a contribution towards the initiative which is a catalyst to keeping learners in schools.

He said as a Malawian company operating both locally and internationally, they felt it necessary to support an initiative which has a good motive, that is keeping children in school while at the same time nurturing raw talent.

“As Sparc Systems Limited, we are happy to have made this donation. We started our business here in Blantyre and that is where we have our headquartegrs. We have a common goal which we always believe in and thats giving back to the community where we operate. Blantyre City Council is like our partner and it was necessary to support them in such a noble duty,” said Phiri.

In his remarks, Mayor for Blantyre City Councillor Noel Chalamanda described the donation as timely and commended Sparc systems limited for the support. He then called upon other companies to emulate the gesture shown by Sparc systems.

Chalamanda said it is the wish of the Council to sustain the initiative depending on the support they receive from individuals and the corporate world. He however said since the initiative was re-introduced, several companies have joined BCC in support of the initiative and hope this will continue in future.

The competition is at a quaterfinal level and is scheduled to be finalised in December.
