St Pius Parish to celebrate 40 years of Fr Masuwa in priesthood on July 26

St Pius Parish in the Archdiocese of Blantyre will on July 26 jointly celebrate 40 years of Fr. Benito Masuwa in the priesthood with a big mass and various activities at the parish.

According to the Parish Chairperson and Archdiocese Laity Council Frank Ngagwe Celebration Committee preparations for the big day said they are in the final stages as everything meant for the day has been finalized.

Ngagwe has urged all catholic’s in the Archdiocese of Blantyre to attend the event and celebrate with Fr Masuwa.

“We are calling upon all Catholics to come in their large numbers at St Pius Parish this coming Sunday. It will be a big day because apart from mass we will also have various activities like dances,’ he said.

Ngagwe showered praises on Fr Masuwa for his hardworking spirit, adding the parish   had transformed in terms of development.

For instance, he mentioned the construction of St Pius Hall at the Parish during Fr Masuwa’s tenure.

Fr Masuwa who was born on 7 November, 1948 in Namitete   commended his parents and Christians for their role on his 40 years journey to priesthood.

“I also want to thank you my fellow priests, Archbishops and all bishops for being in with me all times and supporting me in my calling.et me also thank God Almighty for enabling me achieve this and giving me the strength,” said Masuwa,

He further appealed to priests and Christians in the diocese to lead an exemplary life and be good examples to the general public and advised them to remember a prayer always.

On 20 July 1975, Fr Masuwa was ordained a priest at Limbe Cathedral. He has served in several parishes like Neno, Mzedi, St Peter Major Seminary as a lecturer, Namulenga, Ntepuwa, Limbe Cathedral, Mlopwe, Kadikira, Catholic Institute, Mwanza and Januwale before coming to St Pius.

Second born in a family of eight children, Fr Masuwa hails from Nkhwayi in Chiradzulu but many of his parents are in Neno.

He was our teacher in Bible Knowledge at St Patrick’s, Mzedi in the early 1980s. Still looking great after all these years. A result of serving the Lord. Stay blessed and continue being a blessing Fr.
