Thoko Unyolo: Christmas gift for golfers

Standard Bank of Head of Marketing and Communications Thoko Unyolo said the surprise package underlines the bank’s commitment to share the wonderful experience of its 50 years of doing business and “being more” than just a bank in Malawi.

The ace will be determined on Hole 13 in a tournament that has attracted about 130 golfers.

“Turning 50 means there is no any other bank with substantial personal and emotional connection Malawi than Standard Bank does.

“Our age is our leverage on understanding how the banking industry drives the country’s economic growth. Being 50 means Being More,” she said.

Unyolo said the bank, which has been a traditional sponsor of many golfing events over the years takes opportunity of such tournaments to interact with customers and other key stakeholders in an intimate way.

Lilongwe Golf Club Captain Brigadier General Chikunkha Soko, applauded Standard Bank for the tournament, tipping it as an early Christmas gift for golfers.

“We are excited to host one of the biggest fields of golfers at this course in the year 2019. What Standard Bank has done is commendable because they have included all categories of golfers to participate.

“The tournament will encompass all golfers from men, ladies, kids and professionals. It surely is an early Christmas treat for everyone,” he said.

This is the third key tournament by the bank in 2019.
