“When you sponsor a competition of this nature you always have reasons for doing that.”

The netball sponsorship was suspended following what the bank said poor administration that discredited the management of the sponsorship.

The bank was sponsoring the netball cup with a K7 million package before the suspension last year which has affected competitiveness of the netball sport.

Standard Bank has also committed that it will sponsor this year’s football cup but mum on the value of the competition.

This was announced by Head of Marketing of Standard Bank Chimwemwe Matonga during an interaction meeting with the media on Wednesday in Lilongwe.

“We want to assure the nation that as a responsible corporate citizen the bank will continue with the social responsibility activities that we do and that includes the football competition sponsorship which is back this year,” said Matonga.

The bank sponsors probably the most superlative football cup to the tune of K20 million, and Matonga said there are no reasons that could stop their interest hence will continue with the sponsorship.

“We will soon make an official announcement on how this year’s competition will be run,” said Matonga.
