This translate to 1,600 transactions since “Be Your Own Bank-Transact and Win” promotion was launched a fortnight ago.

The new 516 internet customers have been registered within a space of two weeks, according to the bank’s Head of Personal Markets Charity Mughogho.

She said they rolled out the “Be Your Own Bank-Transact & Win” Promotion which aims to promote Internet banking in Malawi.

“The response in the first two weeks is encouraging and prospects are high that more people will come forward to join us in this new era of digital and paperless banking,” said Mughogho during the first draw of the promotion in Lilongwe.

Mughogho said Standard Bank’s internet banking platform offers efficiency and security to its customers.

During the first draw Standard Bank splashed fabulous fortnight prizes which included Samsung Galaxy S6, flash discs, caps and T-shirts.

There is a grand prize of K1 million and K500, 000 for the runner-up. The third-placed winner will walk home with a DSTV Explorer plus a month’s Premium subscription which will be given at the end of promotion in October.

To stand a chance of winning, existing Current Account customers need to register for Internet Banking while potential ones should open a Current Account complete with the Internet Banking service option and are supposed to transact a minimum of four times every two weeks, and the more transactions one conducts, the higher their chances of winning.

Standard Bank’s internet and mobile banking is so backwards, the service is an inconvinience to many, its has so many hidden charges attached and frequently down.

I regretted registering internet banking with Standbank, the charges are horrible, be warned.
Internet banking is supposed to be free, because you are actually like an unemployed staff of the bank by doing your bank stuff through the Internet. Why the monthly charges.
Again, the servers are down most times.
It’s unfortunate, they are using customers money to promote a lie

Standard Bank in Malawi is so backward. Even their SMS alerts don’t work either. Ask around and hear from clients. So pathetic.

Standard Bank Internet Banking is one of the worst in the the country. For many people it has never worked. No wonder the bank had to run a promotion for this facility which in the normal sense it was clients themselves who were supposed to be rushing for it in this electronic age.
