Student Tionge Munthali wins Miss Heritage Malawi
Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) student Tionge Munthali has been crowned 2016 Miss Heritage Malawi outshining 13 other contestants on Friday at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.



Speaking after the event, the 22 year old young girl who is studying Banking and Finance, said she was delighted to to be crowned the winner and promised to use her position to champion education among girls, empowering women in all spheres and promoting Malawian culture.
“I am happy that I have made it and I thank God for making it possible. I promise to champion girl education and I will also concentrate much on women empowerment and promoting Malawian culture, “she said
Miss Heritage executive director, Tadala Chihana , who is also judge for Miss Malawi beauty pageant, described the event as a success, saying the patronage was impressive.
Chihana said the newly crowned queen is expected to participate in the global competition of Miss Heritage world scheduled to take place on 4 December this year at Sandton in South Africa where she will battle against queens from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Egypt, Australia, India, USA and Ireland among others.
She added that girls can play a significant role in promoting culture and has since said events of such nature will continue.
