Suzgo Nyirenda bids farewell to FAM, heading to COSAFA
.The outgoing Football Association of Malawi (FAM) General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda has bid farewell to the institution after an 11 good year stint.
Nyirenda is expected to fly to South Africa where he secured a job as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Administration and Competition) at the Council For Southern African Football Nations (COSAFA).
He already penned a five year deal.
Nyirenda told a local radio recently that he had a good time at FAM and that his working at the local soccer governing body was destiny.
Nyirenda however said it is unfortunate that during his stay at Malawi FA, the senior national football team registered more losses than wins.
He admitted that there were several factors that led to poor perfomance but said they tried to come up with different measures to keep the team and the association moving.
Nyirenda said among other things, the association has been conducting trainings and coaching courses, the coming in of the Under 15 project, mobile academies and several pilot projects as part of its vision 2026.
He also accepted that at times, some things went wrong which he said it is part of humanity.
Nyirenda leave the country this weekend hoping FAM and the new General Secretary Alfred Gunda who officially starts his duties on 1st December 2016 and will continue with the good work and programmes he has left.
As Nyirenda starts new lease of life at COSAFA, he has promised to always be available and supportive to the in-coming Gunda.
