Patients in all wards received hampers containing laundry and bathing soap, jelly, candles and cooking oil.

District Nursing Officer, Arthur Champiti, thanked the association for the kind and timely gesture. He appealed for more support and help from well wishers saying Malawian public hospitals fail to meet various needs of their clients due to financial challenges faced by government.

General Secretary for the association, Aston Gondwe, said it was only human for one to help another in times of need.

“As sports journalists, we serve the people and it is only right and proper for us support those that are sick with the little we have so that when they regain their good health, we serve them even better,” observed Gondwe.

Candlex Limited and Cori Limited are companies that assisted SWAM with the items.
