Secret Solstice, which has been making waves since its first edition in 2014, has been dubbed “the world’s most unique music festival” by several media outlets.

The 4th edition of the festival will take place during the epic 72-hour sunlight summer solstice in the capital city of Reykjavik from Thursday 16th to Sunday 18th June 2017.

Tay Grin, the first Malawian to be enlisted to perform at the festival, revealed he had been scheduled to perform on the second day,Friday, June 17th.

“Secret Solstice is a hip hop oriented festival which is perfect for my portfolio and [an] excellent opportunity to introduce hip hop with African taste to the West. [I am] very excited to be the first Malawian artist to this festival,” expressed the Proudly African rapper.

He further revealed: “My connect who lives in Iceland strongly recommended me to the festival because of my intensive work in Malawi and other countries.

According to the lineup of acts on the Secret Solstice website, there are close to 100 artists mainly from the U.S. and Europe billed to perform at the festival.

American Rock heavyweights, Foo Fighters, are as well part of the impressive bill of artists, which also features English electronic legends The Prodigy and Richard Ashcroft, hip hop group Foreign Beggars, and Chicago house legend Kerri Chandler.

During the Iceland’s summer solstice weekend, the sun will never fully set due to the country’s close proximity to the Arctic Circle. Although quite normal for locals, this natural phenomenon provides an extremely unique backdrop that has foreigners flocking from around the world to experience.

In addition to performing at the festival, Tay Grin, who is the UN Women Malawi ‘HeForShe’ campaign champion, disclosed he plans to have an event in Iceland to raise awareness among Icelanders of Malawian girls’ challenges.
