Tembo uniliterary accepts Kutsaira back into Malawi Congress Party

Rogue politician and ex-spy Chief Binton Kutsaira has, in suspicious circumstances, been accepted back into the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

It took no less than four visits to the residence of party president Honourable John Zenas Ungapake Tembo for Kutsaira to secure reception back in MCP.

On his first three visits, in keeping with the party’s well publicised view on political vagabonds, Binton Kutsaira had been categorically rejected.

Pondering at what could be the cause of MCP president’s change of heart, there is a lot of speculation with some concluding that the two: Honourable JZU Tembo and Kuntsaira are up to no good.

Reportedly, Kuntsaira’s role is to boost Honourable John Tembo’s chances of holding on to the presidency of the MCP and thwart the stiff competition the veteran politician is facing from the several other presidential aspirants.

Sources have it that the Peoples Party (PP) is Kuntsaira’s real employer, the unseen hand because Honourable John Tembo holds the key to the Peoples Party (PP) strategy for the forthcoming elections.

There is clear information reaching other media sources that if Honourable John Tembo retains the MCP presidency, he is likely to coax MCP to enter into an electoral alliance with PP on condition that he becomes incumbent President Joyce Banda’s running mate.

How this development will affect the PP especially the top hierarchy whose jostling for the number two spot is increasing by day, is not yet clear.

But what is clear is that President Joyce Banda, like the other two Southern contenders Prof Peter Mutharika and Atupele Muluzi, needs a good result in the central region to secure victory in 2014.

PP’s vested interest in the presidency of Honourable JZU Tembo in MCP is why the MCP convention has been postponed twice when all indications showed that the veteran politician lacked the necessary support to amend the constitution and to win against his new challengers.

Due to uncertainty of Honourable JZU Tembo’s victory, PP, which ironically is the mysterious donor of the convention, has been playing cat and mouse with release of the funds.

Prodigal son Binton Kutsaira is reportedly already at it: working underground to strengthen Honourable John Tembo’s effort and among other things he has already made statements in support of his new host on radio Zodiak radio:

“I have returned to MCP to support Honourable JZU Tembo because he is the only one capable of leading MCP to victory unlike the new comers and that Kamuzu left the mantle to Honourable JZU Tembo.”

It is important for the general public to be aware that his mission is, by hook or crook, to eliminate the strong candidates from the MCP presidential race. For Chakwera, Kuntsaira has a plan to turn some pastors from within the Assemblies of God to publicly embarrass him.

In parallel, and to reign in the Members of Parliament that are supportive of Chakwera’s bid, Binton has proposed to JZU Tembo that the MCP should field new candidates in all the constituencies whose MPs are supporting Chakwera.

Visiting his own constituency in the company of the respected old guard Mai Manjamkhosi; Binton had another think coming.

The people in the constituency, inclusive of chiefs, rejected him, a development which Mai Manjamkhosi faithfully reported to JZU Tembo.

This seems to be the first of the challenges the former spy chief is likely to face in his uphill task because soon after this rejection, Tembo cancelled an appointment he had with him to discuss further strategies on the road to the MCP convention.
