“At first, I thought singing was just for fun but the entre dream came into reality when my mother whole-heartedly encouraged me to keep on with the music career after noticing a deepening passion within me,” recalls Theo whose home district is Chikhwawa.

Theo believes local musicians have the ability of putting Malawi on the map if the government and the private sectors put much effort in up-lifting the music industry.

Apart from ‘Gypsy album on his belt- a 2010 production which was recorded and mixed by different urban music producers like Tapps, Wizaymes, Tex Shaba, Theo had ever released a mix tape on iTunes with GRIME producers in 2006 and 2007 in England.

Theo advises other singers to take time before producing their music albums.

“We need to be patient and concentrate only on one album to make sure that when the next album comes out, it should survive on the market,” says the optimistic youngster.

Thomson’s music career has brought him into the spotlight.

“My music has taken me very far and I have done a lot by putting Malawi on the map because I went to the U.S.A for an exclusive interview on the World Wide Radio Company in August, 2010 in Los Angeles and also my videos are getting a lot of airplays on Channel O in South Africa.

“I believe this opens more doors for me and Malawi to be known widely,” says a 27 year old Theo.

Theo is not only a singer but he is also an accomplished entrepreneur-the Managing Director of both Matalala Records and Pulse TV that produces corporate adverts and music videos of local and international artists.

His favourite memory is when he performed at Big Brother Eviction Show in 2009 and shared the stage with Sway- an English artist, the duo Brick and Lace in September 2010 and Sean Kingston in April 2011.

Unlike other local musicians, the multi talented Theo can write and sing any music genre that comes on his way like Pop, Hip Hop and R ‘n’B.

On reaching greater height , Theo says:“It is my hope that one day I will receive international music awards because music is about my life and it is my pleasure to interact with different artists around the world.
