Thindwa says goat like bleating convicts faking: ‘There  is no witchcraft’

Association of Secular Humanism executive director George Thindwa has ruled out that two convicts in Karonga who are bleating like goats is as a result of magic after they stole goats in the districts.

The two men, Donald Mwalughali, 26 and Safari Mkandawire, 29 have been put in a special ward at Karonga Dictrict Hospital where they are bleating and jumping up and down like goats.

However , Thindwa said the two convicts are faking and just want to secure early release from jail.

They were sentenced to nine months in prison with hard labour.

“There is no magic, there is no witchcraft, they just want to be released that is why they are faking all this,” he said.

District Health Officer George Bandawe described the disease as strange.

He said the hospital will be asking for the expertise of experts in mental illnesses to examine the two so that a report is submitted to the prison.

Relatives of the two have since asked for the unconditional release of the two convicts so that they can visits herbalists.
