Thoko Katimba in mega DVD launch at Sheaffer

Coming from a series of controversies, Malawi’s soft-voiced gospel musician Thoko Katimba refuses to bow down to Satan but rather march forward with extra bravado! A month later after successfully launching his latest CD of Ndidzaimabe, he is back on stage.

It’s another promising mega show on Sunday at Sheaffer Marquee in Lilongwe as he tries to officially inaugurate the DVD part of the project. The DVD features renowned comedians Winiko and Manganya.

Katimba said, among other talented gospel artists, the launch will take on board supporting acts of Peter Uyu Mlangeni, The Great Angels Choir, The Marvelous Deeds and Khama Khwiliro from Blantyre.

Katiimba: Reformed

“It’s a very promising launch because all is set for it and people should expect an improved performance,” said Katimba.

He said his DVD project has been hastened by the pirates who were fond of selling illegal DVDs of most Malawian artists.

“Some unscrupulous people have the tendency of shooting live shows of artists in Malawi and produce illegal DVDs out of it. Therefore, I hastened my DVD project so that I launch it in good time. All this to avoid the project competing with illegal DVDs,” said Katimba, adding he was working hand-in-hand with the police track down the pirates of his music.

According to Katimba, Ndidzaimabe DVD was exceptional as it had featured a number of gifted actors and actresses like Michael Usi aka Manganya, Enifa Chiwaya, Bon ‘Winiko’ Kalindo, among others.

“It’s a very entertaining DVD because people will find the most talented Malawian actors and actresses I have featured in a number of songs. Their contribution is superb because it adds color to the entire project,” said Katimba.

He said the similar show will be held in Blantyre and Mzuzu.
