Thomas Banda laid to rest in emotional send-off
Thousands of CCAP and Blantyre resident gathered at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre on Friday to pay their last respect to former President of the Civil Servants Trade Union (CSTU) and evangelist Thomas Banda, who died on Thursday after battling with High Blood pressure and anemia.
At exactly, 1:50 pm the body of the late Banda, who died at the age of 63 was lowered into the grave amid sombre faces and tears
There were tears and sombre mood the moment Victor Zuze, sung the famous song done by late Banda which goes like this ,”Ambiri tiwonana pansi pano kutha kwa moyo kulekana mayooo”.Anthu abanja limodzi ena ku moyo wosatha,enawo ku gahena iiiiii.”
A cross section of people that included CCAP faithful and civil servants were all present during the
funeral ceremony.
In his eulogy, evangelist Mulase,who was a close friend to the late Banda described the death of his friend as “shocking” and a big loss to the nation.
“He has left a good legacy, and I can bet with you that we have lost a man of God who was going as far as Lilongwe to preach the word of God,” he said.
In his speech, Rev. Maulidi described Banda as a true campaign director of God.
“He was always passionate on his evangelism job. We will greatly miss his preaching, and most of us used to seek for wisdom from him,” said Maulidi.
Former President Bakili Muluzi conveyed a message of condolence to the deceased family and gave them K50,000 condelence money.
