Tigers switch off power, Silver whack Mafco

Azam Tigers came from behind to beat Escom United on Monday at Kamuzu Stadium in the TNM Super League.

The Kaukauna  vocal coach Leo Mpulula admitted a sense of relief after his side overcame a shaky start to eventually beat the defending champions.

The champions took the lead through in-form striker Chimango Kaira, who most of the times terrorised Tigers defence.

Mpulula’s  charges remained resolute and  fought hard,  no wonder Lumbani Munthali levelled the scores to 1-1.

The tempo of the game changed as both sides tried to secure the winning goal.

Towards the end of the game, Tigers dangerous raider Timothy Chitedze switched off power  through a bicycle kick to kiss Charles Swini’s net and leave the electricians in total blackout.

Mpulula praised his boys for coming back into the game immediately after trailing to their opponents, saying there was relief after a winning goal was registered.

“I told my boys never to give it up and that is why we kept Escom on the tight corner to secure victory,”said Mpulula.

“We don’t want to go out – and pride as well, because we had our backs to the wall and responded very well in the second half,” he added.

His counterpart for Escom, Charles Manda conceded the defeat.

In another encounter in the capital city, after being humiliated to Epac United, Silver Strikers recovered in time by beating Mafco 3-0

The Bankers netted their scores through Mustafa Salimu and a brace from Asedi Ayami.
