Tigresses, MTL, Escom pick up wins in OG Issa

Bingu Tigresses maintained the top pole of the OG Issa Southern Netball League with a big win against  Rock Quiz in one sided affair on Saturday at Blantyre Youth Centre.

Tigresses, who have accumulated 12 points, displayed classic netball in all the four quarters.

Kau-Kau ladies dominated, as they led their colleagues, 34-3, 57-5,86-9 before the final result of 115-10.

Shooter, Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe netted more baskets for Tigresses while the likes of Grace
Mwafulirwa, Rose Saili, Cathy Yikwinga, Florence Chirwa, Maureen Munthali and Beatrice Kadango kept the engine boiling for the entire game.

Tigresses are also leading in scoring more baskets in the league having netted 408 baskets.

Escom victory

In another encounter, League holders, Escom Sisters occupied second slot after beating Glass bank 73-12.

Escom, have amassed 12 points are trailing Tigresses on goal aggregate having scored 322 baskets.

The electricians, however, produced a stunning performance, especially
through the likes of their cool-calm goalkeeper Towera ‘Tobe’Vinkhumbo, no nonsense Caroline ‘Ayuda’ Ngwira and Sarudzai Gondwe, who was coming straight from an injury.

MTL win

MTL Queens, who are yet to regain their old form after the departure of their evergreen shooter, Mary ‘Atcheya’ Waya are now basking on third position after their 67-7 victory to Chiradzulu Medicals.

MTL have 9 points from 255 goals.

On Saturday’s encounter, MTL featured a squad comprised of young and upcoming players like Thandiwe Magaleta, Memory Mwanzani and  Riyana Mtenje.

The only vast experienced player, who led the youngsters was former Malawi Queens’s shooter Emma Mzagada.

Others

On fourth position is Prison Sisters, who had a fruitful weekend after winning twice against Aquaid 52-19 and 46-40 to Chitakale.

The Zomba based out-fit has managed to collect 9 points so far.

Triggers, who won 49-43 before another victory to Aquaid 59-18 moved to fifth place with 9 points after notching in 170 baskets.
Glassbank, who were clipped by Escom Sisters are now occupying sixth position with 6 points while Woget ,who beat Chilomoni Sisters 66-16 are chasing them closely with the number of points only goal difference is separating them.

On eighth position is Rock Queens with 6 points from 131 baskets, while Chilomoni Sisters are behind them with 3 points same as Chiradzulu with the same points.

However, Chiradzulu and Aquaid are yet to secure any point but it is Aquaid anchoring the log table.
